ATF Senior Special Agent (retired) Rick McMahan spent over twenty-five years as a federal agent before retiring in 2017. During his career, Rick worked a wide array of cases—interstate firearms trafficking to a murder for hire investigation, and he even arrested a serial bomber. For over a year and a half, Rick was the lead case agent/ contact agent for an agent working undercover to infiltrate an outlaw motorcycle gang. Since retiring, Rick worked as an instructor at a law enforcement training academy in Kentucky and currently serves as a Detective for the Kentucky Attorney General’s office. In his spare time, Rick enjoys writing, and he has twice had stories published in Mystery Writers of America anthologies, and most recently had a story included in The American Best Mystery Stories of 2020.
