Alan Hardwick

Alan Hardwick

Acting Chief of Police (ret.)

Alan Hardwick’s law enforcement career began in 1991 at a small sheriff’s office in Idaho before he was hired at the Boise Police Department, where he soon became a detective. In 1996 Alan was part of a small group of investigators who tracked major world events and incidents of terrorism to determine the implications to local policing. After founding the Boise Police Department’s Criminal Intelligence Unit, Alan employed techniques from Organized Crime investigations as successful disruption methods in domestic counterterrorism matters. He was hired by the Edmonds (WA) Police Department during the week of 9/11, thrusting him into a partnership with the Seattle FBI and the Intelligence Community where, as a local cop, he directed international terrorism investigations around the globe for 8 years.  Alan retired serving as Acting Assistant Chief of Police at Edmonds PD in 2021 and now operates a private investigation agency and consulting group with his wife and three Labradors in Edmonds, Washington.

Alan is the author of the book “Never Been This Close to Crazy,” and he’s bestselling author Robert Dugoni’s “go-to” expert on police and terrorism matters.
