How Trauma Affects Memory

Interviewing victims and witnesses of violent crime. Why do witnesses to the same crime perceive the event and details differently? How can a victim of an assault vividly recall a minor detail of their assailant but not remember other larger issues? There are a host of physiological and psychological responses occurring during a traumatic event. We will barely scratch the surface, but hopefully we will have a better understanding of the complex nature of victim/witness statements (including false suspect identification).
